Eddystone Lighthouse

£0.00

The history of lighthouses at Eddystone is in fact quite interesting. The site of the worlds first open ocean lighthouse. A lighthouse has been situated on the dangerous Eddystone Rocks, nine miles from Rame head since 1699.

The first two destroyed by fire and storms, the third being named after its designer - Smeaton, was a major step forward for lighthouse engineering. Modelled on a great oak and with a distinctive lantern top, this charming example is most certainly Smeaton’s Lighthouse.

English, Mid Nineteenth Century
